I have no great skill as a reviewer since wisdom of my ignorance compelled me to stop shortly after I began. However, I was likewise compelled by my disappointment at this Bruichladdich for which I paid $150 - often sells for $200 - without tax considerations. I do NOT recommend this expression of Bruichladdich. I had a great Bruichladdich of a similar expression a year ago or so and was trusting of a similar experience. The fact is that my satisfaction level - the taste/quality level - barely exceeds that of a Glen Livit 12 - and I am uncertain whether it matches a Balvenie 12 which I would purchase at the same price much more readily.
Simply put, the taste was not especially demanding in any way. I would never buy another bottle even at a third the price. In contrast, I have recently been drinking a lovely GlenMorangie Nectar D'Or that I am now buying more bottles for future inventory. There was definitely more of a burn than I would have expected.
I have one more similar expression from Bruichladdich for the same price - I hope to God that my satisfaction will be obtained....
