I've been looking forward to trying this again. I first tried it and picked it up at Bruichladdich day at this years Islay Festival. And what a day!
Just picking up this bottle and pouring takes me back. The nose is very winey and despite the ABV there is very little burn of the spirit. Unsurprisingly the nose is dominated by redwine flavours (borolo wine finish I believe). You get oak, very ripe grapes and an ever so slight aromatic spice. It reminds me of sitting in the Master Class tasting the newest release of Black Arts with a song of the same name. More wine and a bit more spice via the tongue. The body is quite thick and creamy. It really is enjoyable. I had a few when I tried this before so the taste is almost as surprising as the 3 year old octomore from virgin oak casks I tried at the festival. Tasting again after a brief pause allows some of the hidden vanilla to resurface as well as many many subtel nuances and only builds the length of the beautiful finish that lingers as long as the revellers dancing in the square at Bruichladdich day. I truly recommend both experiences!
