A young Ileach on a sherry cask. It remains a challenge to me. This is a 10 Year Old Bunna, marketed by the Meadowside Blending Company under their Maltman label. Some may find the title of this review shocking, but those who know me will soon realize that it does not have to be a bad thing.
The nose is sweet with toffee, caramel, nougat, cherries and indeed baby puke. This can – and in this case is – a good thing instead of an off note. Very sweet and slightly sourish. It is sometimes described as baby breath, to be less offensive. But for me it is more than breath. Anyway, discover it yourself, I would say.
On the palate too, the sourish note is present. The influence of the sherry increases. Malt, red fruit, wine. Not much more than that, but it does not need more.
The long finish remains feisty on sweet wine.
An atypical, but very pleasant Bunnahabhain.
