The Italian bottler Wilson & Morgan already has 9 Bunnas in portfolio. This young one from 2001 was bottled at drinking strength and got a finish is sherry wood.
The nose burst with sweetness: raisins, apricots, candid sugar. Underneath is some whole wheat bread, thick with farmer’s butter. This is nicely balanced by Bunna characteristics such as peat, olive oil and a slightly sour touch. Some forest scents too. Humus? Along the way, it picks up some coffee. Very aromatic.
It is oily on the palate. Spicy too. Again dried fruits like apricots, but now upholstered with some red fruit, followed immediately by a brackish touch. Caramel and cinnamon.
The finish is rather short and a bit smoky.
This is a very competitive Bunna. Bang for you buck, as they say. Not even 40 EUR, which is very fair. Thanks, Jeroen, for the sample.
