Claxton's, with those typical perfume bottles, has released some beauties in 2017, but I will be trying a bottle that they released last year: a 14 years old Bunna from 2002 that matured on a bourbon hogshead.
The nose is rather dry, if you know what I mean. Loads of grain and mild peat dominate. Some play-doh, all the way in the back. Fresh bread and young cheese. Completely devoid of sweetness, with the exception of a touch of vanilla and some barley sugars.
The body is fine, while the palate is a lot sweeter than the nose promised. Vanilla, honey, barley sugars and some Reine Claude plums. A mild smokiness develops, but I would not call this one peaty. Reminds me more of woodsmoke than peat, in fact.
The finish is medium long, showing some spices.
Easily quaffable Bunna, but rather one-dimensional. Around 95 EUR, which seems a bit steep for what you get.
