While the former tasted Bunna from Wilson & Morgan was a young animal, this is a 20 year old blend (do not take this the wrong way) of two casks, number 5521 and 5522. Judging from the color of the whisky, these were sherry casks.
Well, the sherry wood has had a lot more influence on the nose here. All kinds of forest scents and prunes and black grapes. Nuts, too. Somewhat drying on gentle spices. Slightly sour at the back of the tongue, as if from sauerkraut. Pleasant with capital P.
It is light on the palate, almost watery. But I am not complaining. Prunes, cherries, some mint and white pepper make for a nice palate. Ginger too. The oak influence is evident. It turns dry quickly, but never bitter. This is a sweet, dry Bunna.
The finish is fairly long and drying.
Little bit of Bunna, loads of sherry, but very, very good. Around 85 EUR.
