At the whisky festival for Independent Bottlers in Belgium, I found some bottles under the label Golden Cask. One of the gems I tasted was this Bunna 1990 on sherry cask. With a lot of gusto I got me a sample to try today, six months later. It was distilled on 24 December 1990 and bottled on 5 April 2012.
Delicious nose on sherry with loads of chocolate, all kinds of nuts, speculoos and coconut. Espresso and candied orange peel. Juicy plums. Freshly polished leather. Hints of smoke. Big.
Silky soft on the palate, despite the high ABV. Black berries, dark chocolate with hazelnuts, rum raisins, baked apples and plums. Reminds me a bit of Cadbury’s Fruit & Nuts chocolate bars, but on alcohol. What’s not to like? Quite some pepper and cloves. Mildly drying.
Sweet, spicy and dry finish that lasts longer than the average television show.
Outstanding! Around 145 EUR.
