Caol Ila 12 Year Old Cadenhead’s Original Collection

A young, pale Caol Ila, matured on a bourbon cask. You'll be hard pressed to go more classic. Bottled by Cadenhead in 2020 in their Original Collection. Weird that the year of distillation isn't mentioned on the label. Probably a vatting of multiple casks, in which 12 years old was the youngest. Fruity and fresh on apples and lime, but at the same time a soft soapy note. Zwitsal baby shampoo, let's say. Luckily it is not disturbing. Some mint and meringue, but also some icing sugar, fish oil and the scent of a recently doused candle. Jelly beans after some breathing. Fresh apples and vanilla, lots of oyster sap and white pepper. Lime and kiwi appear, but are overcome by brackish water. Deliate peat. The finish is long, peppery, peaty, and softly drying. Hmmm... one of the lesser gods. I'll take the official 12 years old instead. Thanks, Benny!
