Another US acquisition, since buying whisky Ontario at the LCBO is a utter waste of time and money. I picked up this malt because a few reviewers describe it as being close to Port Ellen, particularly on the exhale during the finish. Probably the closest I'll come to trying a Port Ellen.
Nose: fresh; fat, oily peat and honey.
Palate: billowing mild peat smoke, spice, and an undercurrent of honey.
Finish: probably Port Ellen (who knows...). Farmy peat and massive spice on the exhale. A very long and pleasant finish.
Very nice dram. Could be just a another good Caol Ila for all I know.
Find where to buy Caol Ila whisky
@TheConscience , do you remember where you saw the Port Ellen comparisons for this Caol Ila? Was it the LAWS site?
lawhiskeysociety.com/whiskey/1218/…
..or maybe some other source that I would like to find too?
(I found a bottle of this that I'm considering buying.) Thanks!
