Elijah Craig small batch. They were having a sale today I picked this up for 29.99 compared to the usual 36.99. ECSB as I will call it is aged 8-12 years in #3 charred barrels. If I'm not mistaken it is the standard Heaven Hills mashbill. This is my 3rd glass of a fresh bottle tonight as I try to stay warm from the snow and ice outside.

Nose: Pretty Standard bourbon nose. Caramel and brown sugar. Nuts, pecans, cashews and peanuts. A bit more smoke and charryness if thats a word than other bourbons I've had. Nothing too exciting but pleasant nevertheless.

Taste: Salty, honeyed and smokey. Honey roasted nuts, glazed ham, salted pork, and smoke. Not at all like Islay smoke or peat smoke. It's a smoother campfire smoke. The smooth, subtle smokeyness is really what stands out for this bourbon.

Finish: Lingering salted pork and smoke.

Overall: After examining this bourbon for a few hours tonight in the cold, I've decided I like it. A salty, subtle smoke balanced with some honey sweetness makes this an easy sipper. It feels like more char in the barrels than advertised. Nothing spectacular but definitely worth the $30.
