For our third release in the Canvas Series, with again a beautiful artwork by Monique Tromp on the label, we selected a lesser known malt. This Fettercairn was put to sleep in 2008 in a bourbon hogshead and selected for its summery character.
On the nose, it is fresh and creamy at the same time. Candy-like notes with lots of vanilla on the one hand, pastry, peach and banana on the other.
The alcohol is perfectly integrated, so the ABV does not bite despite the fact that it lets itself be felt. Again quite creamy with a nice floral note, while white peach and wine gums entertain your taste buds. A bit of white pepper gives it a spicy touch, but it remains summery and fresh throughout.
The finish is long, mildly drying on vanilla and candy floss with a lovely bitter note at the death.
Fettercairn is sometimes referred to as ‘the undiscovered gem’, but Manny and I are very happy we discovered this cask for you.
