The independent bottler Lady of the Glen bottled this 12-year-old Fettercairn in 2021. I tasted it earlier – between the soup and fries, as we say in Flemish – with my friend Benny. He also realized that it was not the ideal moment and therefore put another sample in my hands. Now I'll work on it.
Delicious nose on marzipan, cotton candy and juicy pears. Pineapple juice and melon. Late kiwi. Very tropical and attractive.
Relatively waxy on white fruit and pineapple. Some pink grapefruit appears, while wood spices give it some warmth. Vanilla custard and a touch of pebbles. Great balance.
The finish is very long on vanilla custard, grapefruit, and black pepper. Fairly spicy.
While very tasty, it can't quite live up to the promise of the nose. The nose was excellent! But a very lovely Fettercairn. Around 95 EUR, if you can still find it. Thx, Benny!
