This is the elite statesman, the aristocrat of the Glendronach, i have had the pleasure of tasting one previous Granduer and was thoroughly ... whelmed.
Nose: very dense nose, with old sherry notes, leather and aged tobacco, also rosemary, thyme, almond paste, marzipan and raspberries.
Pallet: praline, Turkish delight and crumble, also dark hot chocolate and cream cheese interestingly enough.
Finish: Spicy with nutmeg and cloves, also a hint of smoke, a very long finish
Mark neat – 8.4
I'm not exactly sure about the Grandeurs, the 31 i had previously was good, very good but not great. This has a phenomenal nose, truly beautiful. Somehow from there this whisky loses its way, impossible to say what it is but somehow it just isnt all there.
