Well, a US resident can only touch Glenfarclas 15 YO if she/he buys it abroad, or has it sent into the USA from abroad. The reviewed bottle was purchased in Ontario 2 1/3 years ago, and has been open since its purchase. The bottle is 60% full and has been gassed for preservation for 11 months
Nose: Damn! This is what sherried malt is supposed to be about! Strong, rich, beautiful sherry-grape flavours...dark fruits, plums, black cherries, raisins, you can find the common apple and pear in there too, if you look. Lots of medium pitches to "hear", if you listen, but also plenty of high and low pitches to give it balance. The wood and malt take a back seat to the sherry cask flavours, but who cares, when the sherry is this good?
Taste: spectacular translation of these beautiful nose flavours onto the palate; gorgeous flavours in the mouth, with the usual impeccable Glenfarclas Sherry cask selection
Finish: just stays straight on course, and mighty fine, for a good long time
Balance: As sherry influenced malts go, this is probably THE BENCHMARK DISTILLERY FOR QUALITY. I've tasted a lot of questionable sherry finished malts, with attached undesirable flavours, especially Sulphur, or too much tannin. Glenfarclas seems to remain a beacon of quality in a murky sea of questionable quality. I cannot recommend this Glenfarclas 15 YO too highly. It is superb, and very much worth my having to drive 550 miles one way to Canada to get my hands on a bottle
(Bottle preservation comment: this bottle tasted fantastic when it was first opened, and tastes fantastic 2 1/3 years later, very little changed.)

Couldn't agree with you more Victor. The Glenfarclas 15 is one superb sherried whisky. I look forward to exploring other expressions in the Glenfarclas range. I'm considering the 17 or 21 yo next.
