Distribution of ratings for this:
21 year old Glenlivet at 43%. Not overly expensive either. 150AUD duty free for a 21 year old whisky is pretty good value in my book. Cheaper than Chivas 18, Johnnie blue and Lagavulin Distillers edition
Nose: Dried banana, lemon, lime, honey caramel, light oak and tannins. With water really upped the complexity, there is more cereal malt in there, peach and pears come through.
Pallet: light body, candied fruit, glucose, wood spice some peach and just a hint of smoke With water spicier more tannins, peaches and pears come through again, banana note has completely gone
Finish: spicy, some tang, and savoury malt comes through With water really clean, almost stony, cereal grains, honey and a touch of peat.
Mark – neat 8.3 , with water 8.5
It's good not great, absolutely worth trying and a very pleasant dram, lovely on a got summers night
