Glenlossie 23 Year Old 1992 Lads of Lobland

With this Glenlossie, the Monarchy of the Lads series is halfway. When you put the first four bottles next to each other, you get a wonderful panoramic image as the four labels fit together nicely. The boys from BYOB-C (say ‘biopsy’, acronym for Bring Your Own Bottle Club) bottled a lovely Glenlossie 1992 before. In fact, in 2014, it was their very first club bottling. I wonder if this 23 years old will be equally good. A fresh, summery nose on European fruit (think apples, pears and gooseberries). It has a malty heart. Hints of citrus and a fresh touch of mint. Freshly cut grass. Hint of coconut after a few moments. Wild flowers in the field. Love this nose. Aperitif style in my book. Nicely oily with a smooth arrival, despite the high ABV. Apples and pears return. Not so much the gooseberries, which are replaced with citrus. Think grapefruit and bergamot. Very spicy without going over the top: a pinch of chili pepper, ginger, vanilla and mint. Midpalate it becomes fruitier. Some pineapple in tin and even some peach. A bitterness as if I bit on a pith from a grape. Touch of oak, but the whole is nicely balanced. The finish is medium long, spicy and sweet. Clearly a twin of two Glenlossie 1992 that I tried before and a nice aperitif. Typical summer dram. Bottle 92 of 92 has found its place in the cabinet, next to the other three bottles from this wonderful series. There is enough place left for the next four.
