Grant's Grants Sherry Cask Finish 8 Years Old
An easy, pleasant sipper

Nose; subtle, with a fresh, malty sweetness. Dried fruits and spice. Some caramel and a toasty aroma. No peat, but the Oloroso casks are evident.
Palate: a mellow, smooth palate with some honey sweetness, becoming drier and spicy at the back of the tongue. Warming sherry influence with subtle notes of dried fruit, and a nice malty core.
Finish: mild but pleasant, with lingering fruit and oak accents.
Balance: for an uncomplicated, easy sipper, this one hits the spot. In fact it tastes almost exactly as I hoped it would. A huge step up from the standard Triple Wood/Family Reserve. The extra aging gives it a more rounded character than your average blend, and the Oloroso finish makes it satisfying to drink. Goes down a little too easy, perhaps, but there's nothing "off" about this bottling.
