I don't know much about this one - not sure about what cask(s) were used, just that it's an independent bottling of a 20yo Jura.

The nose is a bit weird - blood orange, milk chocolate, very slight peaty.. and even a touch of dill pickle...? Lots of vanilla though. Tiny Tom donuts. Macadamia nuts. Behind the citrus and vanilla there are some weird sour notes lurking in the background, and water brings that out even more - so it's interesting but confusing.

On the palate that weird sourness has receded, with more vanilla, caramel and lemon pith. Seems to be a prickly peat note. Creamy mouthfeel. Toasty oak. Quite malty. Water brings out more citrus and some heat. Much prefer the palate to the nose.

The finish is a bit ashy, quite citrusy and slightly herbal. Well, this has not changed my opinion of this distillery - it just doesn't work for me. The interesting notes are not pleasant to me, and the non-interesting notes are kinda boring. Oh well!

Oh, just realized the post doesn't reveal the independent bottler (even though I indicated it on the pull down). This is from That Boutique-y Whisky Company.

I can't really comment on this one other than to say I've yet to encounter a Jura that I would buy again. You just reinforced that feeling. Oddly, that Boutique-y outfit is usually a pretty good cask selector.

@BlueNote I disagree. I've been struggling to get through the Boutique-y advent calendar from 2019. Only one expression has so far been fairly good.
