Here's a post on our trip to Benromach and Balvenie! Were they worth it? Yes! Was there something special to be had? YES!!!

@SquidgyAsh - excellent posting. Makes me want to get on a plane and tour those distilleries. Written in a way where we almost feel like were there with you. Your passion for the whisky really comes through and you relate it well to us "commoners". Will more tour stops be forthcoming?

@mrgargus Thanks! Yes there will be more tour stops coming involving Glenglassaugh, Glenfarclas, Aberlour, a Macallan tour that gets VERY cool, a VERY special behind the scenes tour of Gordon & MacPhail's private warehouse and a Talisker distillery tour with the head manager!

@SquidgyAsh There is something special about going to the distillery and seeing how everything is put together. All the smells and the sights stay with you when you pour a sample later on. It just makes it that much more fun.

@SquidgyAsh I don't even know you, but as I was reading your latest post I started to get excited for you when you got to sample the 39 yo Balvenie! Thanks for the lively, entertaining entries. I really look forward to reading about the rest of your trip!

@Whisk Glad you're enjoying it my friend and welcome to Connosr if you're new!!!
Working on the Glenglassaugh post right now as we speak, hope to have it posted tomorrow morning sometime (930pm my time right now) but when it REALLY starts rocking is a couple of posts from now when the distilleries start doing things that aren't normally done from what I understand. I will be posting photos on my facebook (all of them) and just a couple on the blog (depending on how much it can handle). This really was a trip of the lifetime! If you'd like to see the photos just friend me on Facebook at Nathan DeTienne (eep my secret identity is out!)
@JJBriggs Agreed my friend! There is something magical about the distillery!

A lovely day spent exploring Glenglassaugh, trying 4 whiskies that are 35 years or older and finding a couple of hidden gems in the countryside thanks to our guide!

@SquidgyAsh I bet not many get the privilege of that kind of Glenfarclas tasting! What an awesome sounding experience. Thanks again for the cool post and enjoy the family cask + HP!

Next post will be about our trip to Talisker!
I'm sorry about the format, for some reason the net is being awful and repeatedly crashing, I've reposted 6 times today to get one entry up :( Hopefully when the net is being nice again I can make it pretty again!

@SquidgyAsh, buddy, I just commented about a whisky you reviewed a while ago on the 'What are you drinking now?' thread. Check it out, let me know your thoughts ; )

@CanadianNinja Hey buddy! I replied back to you on this discussion yesterday, but for some reason it didn't show up at all... our net has been very sporadic lately so my apologies.
I'm thrilled that you found the Eradour to be a better whisky then I found it! For me it was just a guess when I said that I thought it might do better oxidized and it sounds like I was proven correct in your experience! Do keep us updated with your experiences with that bad boy. I loved the nose and the finish, but the oak bitterness sadly let the whisky down in my experience.

No worries @SquidgyAsh! I'm really enjoying a dram of Yoichi 10 at the moment but I'm going to be cracking open the Edradour 10 again soon. There is no question that oxidation is the key to this one, I'm telling you, nosing this whisky is VERY enjoyable : )

Just a quick heads up for my whisky loving friends!
A local news channel has contacted me asking for an interview regarding whisky, whisky clubs and whisky in Australia. I give the interview in 36 hours from now and am very excited and nervous! Wish me luck please!!

@SquidgyAsh
Good luck with the interview. Will it be aired in the Eastern states?

@sengjc Thanks for that! I'm not a 100% sure, but I don't think so, I'll ask tomorrow when I talk with them! Worse comes to worse I hope to grab a link that I can share with friends (my part will be small as I'm being interviewed along with other whisky guys)

@tjb Thanks buddy! Your vote of confidence is reassuring! The camera crew gets to the house in 90 minutes and to say I've got butterflies in the stomach doesnt begin to cover it!

@Jules Glad you enjoyed it my friend! It was fun writing it, but I will be honest, I was also very pissed when I wrote it having just watched yet another moronic "how to invest in whisky" video.

@SquidgyAsh Yeah there are far too many of those around! Only ones I'm 'investing' in are a few bottles of Mac'18 sherry (1993) that I got for 130$ each a while back. Those babies are skyrocketing and I personally don't find them quite spectacular enough to drink for that kind of money...

For those who were interested in seeing my piece on TV, and just curious as to what this idiot looks like here's the link to the tv interview.
I'm in the last 90 seconds or so, for roughly 36 or so seconds. That was after a 45 minute interview.....hopefully I dont look too stupid.
