This one comes from Barrel No. 15-0333, resting on Rick No. L-7. It was bottled on Jan 14, 2015.
The colour is a dark reddish copper. On the nose, quite heavy molasses with mint, overripe banana and black liquorice. Candied pecans. Pralines. As usual, lots of vanilla but the caramel has been replaced by that thick molasses note. A bruiser of a whisky - unfortunately water just seems to dilute everything.
On the palate, less pepper than usual, more chili and paprika. Fruity with black cherries and banana. Again there is that tart mouth-puckering molasses note, which is smoothed out by water (I suggest avoiding water with this one). Big, fat and bold.
The finish is chalky with gentle spices and burnt oak - the wood smoke always waits until the finish. A darker, thicker, heavier JD - I like it but it lacks complexity.
