This bottle was a gift, about one and a half years ago, from a friend who was not very fond of this whiskey. I quite like it, in fact, not only because it was a nice gift, but also because you can only get it at the distillery and I have not yet found my way there. Not to be confused with the Jameson Special Reserve!
The nose is rife with honey and cream, upholstered with freshly cut grass, hazelnuts and butterscotch. Some cedar wood. Light and inviting.
I get nuts and toffee on the palate. The fruit translates into apricots, mostly. Heather. A pinch of pepper. Pears drenched with honey.
The medium long finish on heather and toffee ends with wood on the death bed.
This one has a lot more character than the regular Jameson.
