This is a Gordon and MacPhail Speyside Malt from Macallan and I have yet to find anyone who knows anything about it, a lonely bottle sitting on a shelf but for only £23 a gamble worth taking.
On the nose it's all sherry with a hint of toffee chews and well fired toast as a back note.
Although this is smooth it has a mild kick to it with malt and sherry on the tongue and a flavour I can only describe as buttered toast, I hate sounding like Oz Clarke but sometimes I can't help it.
With water the drink becomes a little softer as one would expect with more of those toffee chews and melted sugar coming to the fore.
If you can find this then take the risk a stramash of a drink and no mistake, I have the 1999 and if anyone has another year I'd love to hear about it.
The Captain.
