Matisse Blended Whisky

This was back in March 2016, at a joint in Madrid called Sita, which is now totally defunct. They had a number of brands, nothing spectacular per se, but I came across this Matisse Old, that, despite the name, is not French but Scottish.

Seems to be the blend of the house, a commercial 40% ABV sold everywhere they can (not everywhere they'd want, for this seems to be the first review here.) They advertise it as 'The Highest Quality Blended Whisky in Scotland.' A little far-fetched, if you ask me.

A blazing pale golden pour delivering a very sweet display of aromas, the likes of vanilla ice, crème brûlée, cinnamon and milk chocolate. Like fine for desserts. There's also a hint of Cayenne pepper, so you can have this both with your dessert and your black coffee.

Silky, smooth and oily mouthfeel accompanying a slightly pungent and tannic flavor toward the medium-lasting finish. If you're in for a dessert dram, this might just be it. Otherwhise...
