- Brand: Minhas Distillery
- ABV: 40%
I picked up a few minis at a 4 for $10 display. This one claims to be an Irish whiskey, NAS, and I can find very little about it on the internet. It looks like it is bottled for an Alberta based distillery, Minhas, which also markets a white whisky and a rye whisky, all of which I picked up.
It is triple distilled. The label says it is "Gently matured in Oak casks and skillfully blended to create a whiskey of unique smoothness and character".

Nose 17/25
Syrup. A little fruit. Solvent. No changes with water.
Taste 20/25
Quite strong on arrival. Very rich. I get some red wine. Very sweet. Cloying. The alcohol really pushes through. Water seems to make is sweeter.
Finish 20/25
Not long, unremarkable. Slightly astringent. Wine lasts longer after water is added, with more wine.
Balance 18/25
Nose and palate do not align. While it's powerful on the tongue for 40%, it's incredibly sweet and cloying.
Total Score: 75/100
There's nothing offensive about this whiskey, but it's way too sweet for my preference.
