Nikka Days
Middle of the Road

Suntory had only just released its blend ‘Toki’ when Nikka launched this ‘Days’ as successor to the very popular (and much better!) Nikka All Malt. The big difference is of course that Days is not only malt, but a blend that contains mildly peated malt and grain whisky. The nose is very light. Like a feather! Uncomplicated on citrus. Breakfast cereals and some vanilla. If some peated malt went in the mix, I’m sure it was very little. Does not speak at all. Light, but pleasant body. Softly creamy on vanilla, lemon and some almonds and just the tiniest of prickles reminding you that you are in fact drinking whisky. Plays nice. The finish is short and honeysweet. Docile, light, playful and summer. Very middle of the road. Around 40 EUR which makes it almost as expensive as the Nikka from the Barrel. That latter is the better choice. This is for cocktails only, in my opinion.
