@Hewie - Thanks, and yes I have been particularly well looked after this year . . . you'd think I mention it all the time wink

My Christmas additions, the Talisker 10 is from my brother. The Benromach SC I purchased myself cobbling together the SAQ gift cards I received from colleagues.

@Hewie it was difficult to choose between that and the 10/100, the price was similar. I figured we get so few store-select type single cask offerings (although that has changed of late) that I should go for it. The few reviews of similarly aged Benromach singles casks I have seen online have been favourable. I will crack it open soon and keep you posted.

@cricklewood That Benromach SC looks interesting, will be looking for the review in the future. I think our brother's read the same Scotch Holiday Gift Giving Guide, as mine also bought me a bottle of Talisker 10 ;).

@Mancub I love those gift guides because you can see when people have followed them to the letter, it reminds me of when people would come in to the restaurant with a cut-out of the latest newspaper review and order the exact same meal as described laughing it's sweet.

Late to reply here, I was gifted a bottle of Auchentoshan 'American Oak' - works for me, I've never tried it and is something new

@Frost - You can pick it up quite cheap in the UK (£20 ish) quite often. I've never tried it but have been curious.

I'd guess it's quite a light, summery dram?

A little late to the thread. So many generous and wonderful people in my life that contributed to this. A couple came just before Christmas and one or two after. I’ve had little time to be as involved here on connosr as i’d like and even less time for drinking fine spirits. My goal for the year like many of you is to get by with less and enjoy what I have. I also hope to share some reviews this year. I’m so used to taking notes and keeping them to myself, it’s never been a priority to share before. I do however acquire bottles almost solely on reading others notes and reviews, it seems fair to contribute back to those that have helped guide me.

@Mancub that is an impressive haul there. I'll be interested to hear what you think of the Robbie Burns. I've toyed wit the idea of getting a bottle for a Burns night with friends who don't have much experience with whisky - it just seems fitting and I've never actually tried anything from Arran.

@Hewie Thanks! I'm looking forward to each of them for their own reasons. I've yet to try The Arran Malt Robert Burns either, I'm actually planning to open it on Burns night (Jan 25th). I'll report back afterwards to let you know how it is. From my research, it's a light, well put together scotch that seems to go well with dinner. It's definitely a "start the night with" whisky, which suits me just fine...I'm going to need something to wash down that haggis! Cheers!
