I'll come clean and admit that I don't enjoy writing reviews. I'm very much aware that there are some excellent reviewers on this site and my scribblings don't hold up in comparison. The reason I'm doing one now is because this is a brand new bottling which has just come out and there's not a review of it yet on Connosr. So let's get started. The nose is very pleasant but not particularly powerful considering the high abv of 59.3%.Initially it's quite spirity but that soon subsides and develops into smoky bacon, lemons, grapefruit and sweet peat with a little bit of brine and smoke thrown in. On the palate you soon notice that it's very oily which could be from the Caol Ila in the blend.Similar to the nose you get smoky bacon, lemon
very sweet peat and a touch of smoke. This blend is extremely easy to drink despite the high abv but a little water helps to bring out the flavours. The finish is long, salty with some sweet smoky lemon. This bottle of Peat is,in my opinion,a masterpiece of the blenders art.To me it's better than the Port Askaig 100 proof, also from Speciality Drinks, which is a single malt from Caol Ila.For a moment I thought I had some sweet white wine in my glencairn .It's very well priced as well at 35 pounds for a 50cl bottle.I think that this is the best blended malt I've tasted!
