The Creative Whisky Company, run by David Stirk, bottled this 26 Year Odl Tamdhu for the whiskywhiskywhisky-forum, run by the sympathetic Mark Connely who opened his own shop, the Good Spirits Company, in Glasgow recently and who also organises a whisky festival. I guess it was only a matter of time before he released his own bottling.
The nose is a mix of sweet and salt. Raisins in rum left, celery salt right. Light and creamy at the same time. White fruit, but also pineapple. Hints of broth. The longer you leave it to breath, the sweeter it becomes. I get hints of licorice candy. Surprisingly pleasant.
Slightly creamy on the palate as well. It is the sweetness that takes the lead, probably a sherry cask, I would say refill. Nicely spiced and eminently quaffable without water. A touch of bitterness and slightly drying.
The medium finish is mildly salty, but very drying indeed.
Again a very nice and very drinkable Tamdhu. Used to be around 65 EUR, but cannot be found anymore, unless at auctions or forum members.
