In honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee (1952-2012) TheWhiskyBarrel.com presents a limited edition Islay Malt matured in a single fresh sherry butt cask #35. This dram was Distilled on the 24th December 1990 and bottled 10th February 2012 with an outrun of Just 90 bottles.
Nose: Big and deep thick sherry. Nutmeg. Dried fruits. Prunes. Raisins. Fig. And gunpowder / matchsticks. I always enjoy a bit of firecrackers / gunpowder in a sherry, especially if it has wee smoke too. Lovely.
Palate: Oh!, What a string attack. Massive sherry. Matchsticks.Gunpowder in kilos. Wham! Sweet dried fruit with touches of dark chocolate and double espresso. Spices galore too. Nutmeg. Cardamom. Cinnamon. Gum. And… Smoke.
Finish: Dark chocolate and prunes. Smoke.
All in all, lovely stuff, really a nice one. (all gone I’m afraid, and not surprising).

very strong medicine in nose and taste, not my favorite.
