This is a blend, there is a 12 year old single malt in the Tullamore range which I will review in due course.
There is a coppery hue to this dram, which gives rise to some very accessible aroma notes of pot still, vanilla, ginger, apricot and almonds, all very pleasant.
Warming on the plate, medium bodied and not too smooth. The flavours follow the aromas quite closely, but the pot still takes a back seat and there is a burst of grape juice towards the back of the mouth heralding the finish which is dryer and emphasises and almonds and apricots. Very easy drinking, and well worth looking out for.
For potential visitors I should point out that although there is a new distillery at Tullamore, their visitors centre is not located there, but in Tullamore town centre in an old bonded warehouse. This was a great dissapointment to me!
