@Lars, wish I could help you with the bars. Don't know them myself yet. What I want to ask you is which whiskies are you bringing back to Winnipeg? The opportunities must be making you a bit enthusiastic...

I have a few friends who been to Boisdale and they all recommend it highly... the other place I have not heard about though so cannot comment on that one.

@Victor I'm thinking about Arberg at the moment or possibly a signet, not sure to be completely honest. I thought I would hit one of the whisky bars and have a samples before any purchases were made. I was told that the airport shops are not carrying any Arberg products so those will have to be purchased elsewhere. @thelin79 thanks for the info. The menu's has got my mouth watering, and whisky list looks extensive.

Boisdale, hands down. Albannach is a restaurant with lots of whisky that seems to tolerate people sitting at the bar, whereas Boisdale is a large multilevel bar with music, a restaurant and probably the biggest whisky collection in London.
If you want to try and get in some more whisky with the family around then The Britannia might be a place to look at:
It's a pub with an excellent whisky collection and, I've been told, decent food. It's worth giving them a shout to make sure they're okay with kids visiting but it could be a good place for a couple of drams and some lunch/dinner.

@cowfish Boisdale, wow, what a whisky list.. anyone for a dram of Glenisla? Or Mosstowie? ;-)

@systemdown It's quite a fearsome thing to behold when sitting at the bar. The whisky list can also be used as a shield in case of a gunfight...

@cowfish: Britannia is a great place, its a great pub with a twist, the food is pretty good that is true. Last time they had 140 choices on the board.they are generally the core range whisky, usually one per distillery.its perfect for a fun tasting night, and it will not break the bank.

@cowfish, @Smokehead Thanks for the info, That seems to settle it then Boisdale is the place to be. Took a look at the The Britannia looks good, I'll try to get there too on one of our many days trips into London. I've been told by my brother and sister in law pubs are kid friendly will call first to confirm. Again thanks for all the info.

@Lars If you do make it to The Britannia then pop round the corner to see my colleagues at The Whisky Exchange shop. I'm based up at HQ far away to the west, but they'll look after you. www.thewhiskyexchange.com/Vinopolis.aspx

Hi Lars, we'd recommend The Hemingway or Hunter S. You can access these venues from this link and learn more about Drink Deck London, which might be a good travel guide for your visit to London. thedrinkdeck.com/category/london-bars/

@cowfish Made it into the whisky exchange yesterday after checking out Borough Market , had a helpful employee from Australia helping me out. Ended up walking out with a Talisker 18, Ardbeg Galileo, and a 20cc of Lagavulin 16 Year Old for enjoying while still on vacation. One more purchase to go will have to decide after visiting Biosdale.

Heading over to London at the end of the month for a couple of weeks. So the question is if you had to choose either Albannach Restaurant and Bar, or the Boisdale at Canary Wharf, which would you choose and why? Pretty sure I can only swing one night out without the family(kids) otherwise I'd go to both of them.
