Love to have a glass of whisky while I'm watching Breaking Bad.... This has become probably my favourite TV program of all time.

@CanadianNinja Breaking Bad is awesome. I usually drink whisky later at night than the time at which I watch it, though. For me, right now, my whisky show is Spider Man: The Animated Series (from the 1990s).

I too favour Breaking Bad......and I especially like Sons of Anarchy! I also like Shameless (HBO version).

Lost. If you went in with an open mind it kept you guessing. The perfect kind of show for meditation.

Hell on Wheels, I find I drink more whisky than I expect watching this show, Shameless is a good one also.

Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Thrones for me. I noticed Hank dipping into the Knob Hill a few weeks ago!

Hahaha, @Onibubba, I noticed that too! I would have taken Hank for more of a JW Black man myself ; )

For me there's nothing like getting a nice little dram and putting on some Mad Men or Boardwalk Empire

As for what I like to watch right now that makes me think of having an accompanying dram the most, I will stick with The Bridge.

I like Dallas (1978) series, because they drink whisky often, J.R. Ewing is my hero and I can drink with him. Then Simpsons, Two and half man and reality show Exchange wifes (I dont know, how is it name in your country, I am from czech republic, but know, that this reality show is everywhere). Except series is good watching some films, recently Leaving Las Vegas and I plan Barfly for next drinking night.

@JWolker. Great call. Huge Dallas fan myself. I have the complete series on DVD. Great show to watch while having a dram or two. Nothing better than drinking with ole JR.

Excellent idea. I'd go with a good detective drama: Morse, Endeavour, Vera, etc. However, after a few drams (or more) I'd probably need to switch to something requiring a little less "intellectual engagement", such as QI!

Breaking bad and Dexter are the shows I've followed over the past few years. I hate TV programming, generally speaking, and I don't have cable. I followed House of Cards for a while until I felt sick from seeing a show devoted to showcasing a psychopath and making it seem as if Senators and Reps actually have power in DC, instead of just taking order from super rich a-holes. To me, TV programming is too thinly veiled as mind control. I tend to favor more subtle forms of operant conditioning and predictive programming, or none at all!
Films I have sipped to lately include: Mud, The Robot and Frank, Brittown, The Raven, eXistenZ, Iron Sky, Tommy Boy, Rockford Files (Netflix instant watch), As Good As It Gets, Dont Be Afraid of the Dark, The Host, Skyfall, Bernie.
I also am not above sneaking a 100ml glass bottle into a film at the theater from time to time. This year, I have sipped to: Oblivion, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Silver Lining Playbook (on Valentines Day: Old Pulteney 21).
All time best films to drink to: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Tombstone, Let The Right One In, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, Eyes Wide Shut, Bar Fly, Predator, The Godfather (not the sequels), Machurian Candidate, Seven Samurai, Swingers, Pink Panther, Caddyshack, Fst Times at Ridgemont High, Elf, Everything Must Go, Rushmore, The first twenty-five minutes of The Hangover, Ghost Busters.
Last night, I had a drink while watching The Company You Keep. It's programming was fairly obvious but the acting made up for it. This said, I'm sick of Shia LaBeouf worming his way into so many roles these days He sucks as an actor. As for Redford, he's always great to watch on screen, even as a geez these days, but watching him play the role of an activist who detested super rich bullies that control governments and instigate wars for profit and the consolidation of power is a bit much considering he is one of them, no matter how much he doth protest.

I find I have to drink to my wife's shows: Project Runway, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, Devious Maids. These are more mandatory drinking shows: it's mandatory I watch them with my wife, and it's mandatory my glass stays full through the program.
My wife was laughing at me the other night. I was standing at my whiskey bar and she said, "you have that look that says: how strong does this whiskey need to be to get me through this show."- she was correct

Haha, @Nock, that would be great for another thread! 'Women's shows you need a drink to get through.' ; )
@rigmorole, I share many of your views regarding TV programming. As well, another great discussion topic you brought up, whisky drinkin' films...
...Goodfellas, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Bad Santa, Waking Life, The Road, Eastern Promises and The House of Sand and Fog (the only film that has ever made me cry).

I've recently rebooted Star Trek the original series from episode 1. Reminds me of when I was eight years old glued to the TV with my trusty blanket. Now I am glued with my trusty Glencairn. Capt Kirk was such a stud! BTW: William Shatner is releasing a new Prog Rock album October 8th "Ponder the Mystery" - There's even a track with Rick Wakeman! is.gd/AnWsmX

Well, there's the obvious answer. The show where everyone drinks, and usually it's a whisk(e)y of some kind. Mad Men! I always seem to have a glass of whisky ready when I watch a new episode.
Justified seems perfect for Bourbon drinking. The show, based on famed and recently deceased author Elmore Leonard's character Rayland Givens, a Deputy US Marshal stationed back in his home state of Kentucky.

I generally like to watch some sort of good drama, oftentimes HBO stuff while drinking a whisky. It started when I used to drink a whisky for the first time with my wife over dinner, usually cooking shows, but sometimes drama as well.
These days while enjoying a whisky I'll often watch My Kitchen Rules, Masterchef Australia, Game of Thrones, Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Criminal Minds, etc etc etc. I personally find watching something while I dram winds up adding to the relaxation.

I usually don't watch anything at all when enjoying a dram. Maybe only some ambient music (Olafur Arnalds, for example). When doing reviews, it's just myself and my dram and a pen and paper, no other distractions - I devote my complete attention to the dram.

@Eli I feel it's a necessity to have a dram while watching 'Boardwalk Empire'...So far this season has been epic!

Recently I've noticed a few of you mention in reviews and postings some of the TV programs you enjoy while savouring a nice dram. It made me think that it would be a good idea to compile a list of some quality programming to go along with our whiskies!
What do you watch when you're having a dram?
