@markjedi1 Ah there are also comes the code for creating it :)

But they won't tell us which whiskys they use, right? Or did they tell you? Maybe they are changing the selection from time to time too.

Nonetheless I am going to try this one time. I also really like those wonderful bottles they use!

@Wills I put that code in there just for you :) No, they haven't told me what whisky's they use and I can imagine that they have to replace casks from time to time.

I'm flying my Geek flag today, and giving a shout out to markjedi1, who is becoming something of a celebrity!

I saw clip on G4 (a US cable network channel devoted to games, technology, movies, and the general geek/nerd/fanboy culture) where they talked about his work saving the Lar's Family homestead from the Star Wars movies, and the piece included interview footage of Mark Dermul talking about the project. Very cool!

@MacBaker62 Any chance of finding that online? It would certainly explain the increased traffic to savelars.com :)

Hello everyone. I just got back from a wonderful holiday in Spain and guess what I created in the swimming pool? That's right: Whisky Rambling 18, giving the Auchentoshan 14 Year Old Cooper's Reserve (duty free) a go. Brilliant holiday whisky. Check out the rambling on youtube at youtu.be/X6WygaewIRU. Enjoy!

  1. Whisky. Wow! Congratulations Mark. And this seems to be a worthy dram for this occasion. Nice to have a view into your Toshan collection. Really impressive. But now I know it's all just colored water.

You really think there are children watching? ;)

Chivas Brothers recently announced they’ll be re-opening the Glen Keith distillery, which has been silent since 1999. They need it for their blending purposes. So I am returning to the past to try one of the few official bottlings. The Glen Keith 10 Year Old is hard to find these days. Let us see if it is worth tracking down in my 21st Whisky Rambling at youtu.be/qvqDXjtqehY.

youtu.be/gMGsjxvXE20 : Well, people have been asking me about the new duty free range from Auchentoshan. What are my thoughts about it? Let’s start with the two entry level malts: Springwood vs Heartwood. There you go.

@markjedi1 Nice Rambling. For me as a student the evening sometimes starts with breakfest, so everything is fine there ;)

I am only wondering that you speak about 'zesty' and 'delicate' as typical Auchentoshan. Isn't this kind of contrary?

12 years ago 0

@markjedi1
markjedi1 replied

@Wills They are not mutually exclusive in my opinion. Auchentoshan is usually a very delicate whisky (because of the triple distillation), but that does not mean that it can have some (very) zesty elements. For example: a highland whisky can also be zesty but will most likely never be delicate. See what I mean?

12 years ago 0

@Wills
Wills replied

Is 'zesty' the same as spicy or full-flavored and 'delicate' similar to light/easy-drinking? Highland whisky can be mild/light too, in my opinion.

@markjedi1
markjedi1 replied

@Wills When I say 'zesty' I refer to citrus fruit skins. Like biting in and thus getting the taste like from the peel of an orange or other citrus fruit, so has nothing to do with spices, nor full-flavoured or not. It refers to citrus fruit skin. Yes, Highlanders can be mild, but I have yet to encounter a Highlander that is as delicate, light and 'feminine' as an Auchentoshan. You can also find some delicate Irish whiskey's for example.
