I really like good peaty malts the most, followed by ryes, straight ryes, big bourbons, and then back to non-peated malts. Of course that's general, and doesn't include everything. Also, really, I just love good whisky - it doesn't matter much what kind it is. I differentiate between ryes and straight ryes simply because often I find the delicacy of rye is stifled by heavily charred new oak, and more and more I am liking the grain over the wood - if it's well done.
I have a blog with a number of reviews which I am trying to also put up on connosr - but it is as time permits, short these days...however, I quite enjoy the community and interaction.
I have spent many hours researching and tasting Canadian whisky in particular - and am passionate about it above others (though I also like them!), and sit as a judge for the Canadian Whisky Awards.
