A cask strength bourbon matured number of Auchentoshan. Excellent price as well i picked this up for $90 AUD. Very high ABV and generally i would think pretty young spirit around 10 years old so plenty of water is needed. All the way up to 50:50 and it wont drown. Bloody good stuff
Nose: hot, creamy, zesty, sharp, slightly dusty and some vanilla. With water ahhhh, that’s better. Almost lime panna cotta, grassy notes underneath, with floral rose notes lemon to, beautifully refreshing.
Pallet: fairly full bodied for a light style whisky. Sweet, intensely sharp, very raw. With water, gentle at first as it washes it over the pallet then light cream, little bit of fizz, sherbet maybe? Very mellow honey (not too sweet) vanilla, more grass and a touch of banana.
Finnish: vanilla, some floral notes, zesty to the end and grassy notes emerging. With water, honey, mild ginger, some more zesty zing. Fantastically clean and slightly dry mouth feel
Mark neat: 8.2/10. With water: 9.0
Beautifully clean and restorative whisky. Would probably contrast very well with big earthy cigars like punch or partagas. An excellent dram, highly recomended even more so given the price.
