Picked this up at Manchester Whisky Festival last week. Berry Brothers always seem to steal the show there...
Nose: Butter and Toffee intially followed by a spicy, Cinnamony Apple flavour. Creamy, coffee, almost hickory-like notes. And then onto liquorice hints. Powerful spices but restrained by creaminess. And now Maple Syrup. This is so complex and brilliant - it changes every few seconds.
Palate: Sweet honey and cream. Spiciness lurking too though not now as dominant. Green apples - a sharp fruit flavour that is not citrus. An occasional treacle note. Spicy toffee liquorice returning as we progress. Remaining incredibly complex.
Finish: Lasting, much more astringent than expected but with the sharp-sweet notes continuing to the end.
As ever, Berry Brothers deliver. I knew this would be the bottle I was walking away from the festival from before I even sampled it. IMO they are the best indie bottler available in the UK, (Signatory are good and take 2nd place but I do think Berry's really excel at what they do).
