This Dalmore first matured in American white oak. Part was then recasked into Palomino sherry casks, while another part was transferred to first fill bourbon cask. Then all was brought back together for a final period in Tawny port pipes. You still following?
Wonderfully sweet nose on milk chocolate with vanilla filling, fresh figs, blood oranges, raspberries, marzipan and tropical fruits like mango. Full and succulent. Absolutely wonderful.
Silky soft, caressing the palate. Immediately very fruity with oranges, raspberry, cherry liqueur and liquorice. Midplate some espresso emerges and the fruit becomes a heavenly jam.
In the rather long finish, the oranges turn a touch bitter and the tannins rear their head. But it remains succulent enough to not die a dry death.
A 25 carat jewel, no doubt about it. Around 800 EUR, which is ridiculously expensive.
