Well, lets see. I have always 16 bottles open in my cabinet, (and one Hendrick's Gin). This is partly to protect myself from buying to many bottles en not drinking them. At the moment these are: 2 Irish (Bushmills 16 and Green Spot) 12,5% 2 Bourbon US (Elijah Craig 12 and Elijah Craig Barrel Proof) 12,5% 12 Scotch; 75% * 4 Islay/Skye (Ardbeg 10, Ardbeg Uigeadail, Talisker Distillers Edition, Briuchladdich Rocks) * 4 Speyside (Macallan Sienna, Glenlivet 18, Glenlivet Nadurra, Balvenie Double Wood) * 4 Highland/Island (Deanston 12, Highland Park 18, Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban, Glenmorangie 18)

Is that to mean you have no unopened bottles in your collection? That must take a special kind of discipline!

You miss out on stuff with limited availability, but you gain by saving money on stuff you may never get to, and avoid the hysteria that comes with uncontrolled collecting. I am envious.

@Nozinan All botles in my cabinet are open. I've got a few in stock that I purchased at a good price. 3x HP18 for € 62,- each. 3x Deanston 12 for € 29,- each and 1x Balvenie Double Wood for € 30,-. I try to replace the empty botles with a simular one. For example: when Talisker DE runs out, I'll buy a Lagavulin DE (my favourite DE). Also on my list to buy someday: compass box spicetree, wild turkey rare breed, springbank 10 or 15 green? I'll get to it someday.....
