Lambertus is produced by the Belgian Distillerie Rademacher, which was originally conceived in 1836 as a geneva distillery, by Peter Rademacher. They have several brandy, liqueurs, genevas, geneva beers and whisky. Apart from this 10 Year Old single grain, there is also the Lambertus Classic (new make), of which the distillery says it's best served directly from the freezer. And there is also the Lambertus Smooth, a malt liqueur.
The nose immediately tells you where this is going: stale beer spiked with too much rose water, flowers (violets), rather chemical with a small trace of caramel in the background. Very sweet. Winegums, but not very good ones.
It has a rather mouthcoating quality, but it's not good at all! Unless you like liqueur, of those purple candies (violets again) that I used to pop into my mouth as a kid. But this can hardly be called whisky, can it? Well, the label says it can.
The finish is medium in length, which is far to long in this case. Get me some water, now! Horrible.
I had tasted this before at @Expensivevino's place and didn't like it much then. I like it even less now. Taste it at the end of a session, else your taste buds are f*cked for the day (excuse my French).
@michaelschout - here's one you will definitely NOT want to try :)
