This was a whisky a picked up as an 'everyday dram'. Whilst I think any single malt should be given maximum attention there are those which I expect to be drinkable and pleasant without being anything spectacular. Something to sip while watching a DVD perhaps. This was also another untried distillery to tick off the list.
On the nose I get a sweet sugary red fruit flavour. Like those artificial glazed cherries. Plenty of vanilla too. Cherry bakewells perhaps?
Massive vanilla on the palate too. Sultanas too. Reminds me of fruit cake. Maybe a touch of caramel icing. Not overly complex but very nice with a short fairly sweet fruity finish.
Much better than I was expecting. I've had far worse whiskies that cost more than this, (under £30), but not had many better that cost less. Recommended for the price.
