@WtoW Thanks for the info. I have a friend going to Calgary next month and I would gladly take another one for bunkering at that price.

@MadSingleMalt Yes, shipping to UK was fast and secure. They can't ship to Canada, but I have very helpful in laws in Oregon. I’ll be keeping an eye on their listings.

Some whisky buddies & I just placed an order from this odd little shop in New Jersey that always has a totally unpredictable selection at totally unpredictable prices:
•Bushmills 1608 400th Anniversary: Because it was marked down from $100 to $60, and it'll be a nice club bottle to open next March.
•All the Killkerran WIPs they had: These are for me personally. I'm supposed to be on a buying freeze, but it's not every day that you come across a supply of these increasingly rare WIPs. The problem is that the Kilkerran labeling is so bad that the clerks there don't totally understand which bottle is which—so I just ordered one of each of whatever they got, and I'll have some surprises when the box arrives.
•Compass Box No Name: A buddy ordered this one because he knows that Compass Box + Ardbeg = good.
•Highland Park 17 The Light: A buddy ordered this one because he's a total collector of bottles that come in a set. He already has The Dark, so he must of course also have The Light.

...and I mentioned that their selection is unpredictable. We also had a whole list of stuff that we wanted to order from their online inventory that was long-gone:
•Bushmills 21
•Knappogue Castle 21
•Kaiyo Cask Strength
•Famous Grouse 18
•Old Weller Antique 107
•Bruichladdich Black Art 23
•Dalmore Daniel Boulud

@MadSingleMalt Looks like your buying freeze is in full meltdown.

@BlueNote, I am powerless against the siren's call of Kilkerran WIPs.

I went on a splurge today. I purchased (2) bottles of John Bowman bourbon, a bottle of Springbank 15 YO, a bottle of Bunnahabhain Ceobanach and a bottle of Kilchoman Loch Gorm.

@BlueNote I hadn’t made a major purchase in some time. I had the urge so I acted on it. These were items I didn’t have in my collection but I had in mind.

It had been a while for me so I splurged a pinch. I went to the NH Liquor Store and picked up Rampur (Indian whiskies draw me in), Hellyers Road Roaring Forties (my first Australian Whisky), Evan Williams Single Barrel (Excellent Value), Old Ballantruan (Worth a shot), and Glen Scotia Double Cask (my first Campbeltown experience).

A friend helped me secure this Bunnahabhain 2003 PX Finish. I have a Sherry sweet tooth and this one seems to garner a lot of attention.

@Astroke congratulations. I've been chasing this for the past month. It shows up then disappears or when I call the store all bottles are on hold or it is a system error. Today, I was offered a Blanton's Gold Edition for my frustration.

@Astroke, @fiddich1980 I've been eyeing the LCBO inventory for this release, has it actually been getting to shelves?
6 years ago 0
@fiddich1980 I put my name in at the LCBO in Oakville and Ancaster a month ago when it first showed up on their site. Looks like they did not get any. A friend happened to be at Summerhill and there they were.He of course walked out with 8 bottles to be distributed among friends.

@cricklewood I suspect it is only been going to Queens Quay, Summer Hill, Port Carling, and Thunder Bay. I have not gotten a straightforward answer from the LCBO.

@cricklewood Yes, but one the only place they ever showed was Port Carling in Muskoka and 12 in Ottawa I think.
If you search Vintages it is no longer listed but the regular LCBO search and phone App it shows but no stock. Another LCBO cluster f#&k

@Astroke and @cricklewood yep. LCBO has been putting certain bottles in the flag ship stores, listing them on the APP or on Vintage with ZERO inventory.

@Astroke, the SAQ can be just as frustrating, I dislike how they seem to be so disconnected from their client's need.

@Astroke Congratulations on getting your hands on a bottle of the Bunnahabhain 2003 PX. I was able to get my hands on two bottles earlier this year. I should have purchased a third, but I was too slow. Anyway, I look forward to reading what you think. I will have to have another dram to remind myself how it is.

Old Pulteney 12. It was $36 in Oregon. My in laws brought it up.

@BlueNote 43%? Here in the UK, we only get the 40% OP12.
Or, we get the only 40% OP12.
Or, the OP12 at 40%, only...

@RikS Yeah, we get 40% in Canada. Only Our southern friends get the 43%....only.

@Frost let us know what your think of the Glen Scotia 15. Ralfy gave it a glowing review and I’ve been tempted a couple of times but haven’t yet pulled the trigger.

Some of you may recall my debate between Balvenie 21 and Springbank 21. I made a decision. Click, click, boom!

@BlueNote I look forward to writing reviews for the Glen Scotia bottles after I open them.
@Nooch that's the best outcome
