@RianC yes mate. Best price and free delivery over £100.
Added bonus it was delivered whilst the wife was out. Which means no awkward questions along the lines of. How much did that cost?

@BlueNote, the KWM sale is what my wallet fears the most.
I sampled and purchased that KWM Tomatin single cask. I am not big into PX but I found it to be quite enticing. I noticed CO-OP also has 3 singles cask Tomatin's, they seemed well priced

@Wierdo I think you are going to love that Balblair. I’ve got the 1990 and it’s a beauty. Reviews I’ve seen on the 91 are that it is even better.

So I “settled” on a reliable Springbank 10 last night because I didn’t find what I had my heart set on. Low and behold, I wandered into the Spirit shop in the Edmonton airport, and look what I found. I’m loath to part with $120 but this is a malt I really adored so I pulled the trigger.

@OdysseusUnbound Good for you! I think if one is loathe to part with $120 for a single malt scotch they know and love..... well, there are less expensive hobbies out there than ours.

@OdysseusUnbound I'm sure you'll have no regrets once you open it. Good choice - enjoy

@OdysseusUnbound I think the 12 CS is the sweet spot in the Springbank line up. Probably my favourite malt at the moment.

@talexander What? you add gingerale to AP Dark Horse as well?

@Nozinan AP Dead Horse more like it! BTW the last AP Dark Horse I tried was repulsive. Never again.

@talexander worse than Lambertus?
Wait - don't answer. You can tell me tomorrow - if you dare

@Nozinan No, I'll say it publicly because it's pretty awful. A lot of you may know that Alberta Premium Dark Horse has a small amount of sherry added to it. That must have been the root of the problem, because the whisky smelled and tasted rotten. I'm guessing the sherry had somehow been tainted before it was added, but I don't really know. What's really dumb though is that I thought it was just me, and kept trying it after a few weeks or so, thinking it just needed some air. At one point I started feeling nauseous so I dumped it down the drain. I should have returned it. I haven't purchased an Alberta Premium product since.

@talexander No, but you've mixed AP with gingerale since that time...and that's where it all started.
Unfortunately I can't return the Lambertus to the person who gave it to me because he now lives in the US and it's probably illegal to bring toxic waste across the border.

@talexander I experienced that with a bottle of AP DH at my parents place a while back. Tasted like chewing on green corn husks. Blech.

I just bought a bottle of Octomore 7.3. It's a pick for my club.
Why?
•We need a winner for December, a month in which we usually open something special.
•A certain member of the club tasted this Octomore a couple years ago and has repeated told me it's the best whisky he ever had.
•In an example of malty stars aligning, our club's December shindig is being hosted at that very same club member's house. :) So, I'm following the universe's lead on this one.

I just bought a Tomatin 12 year old. Why?

@talexander Same. And I have this stupid reaction to anything that’s “on sale”, even if it’s only $4 off. Ridiculous? Yep. But that’s just the way it goes...

@OdysseusUnbound I buy more than I can drink, that's the problem. Clearly, I need to drink more, not buy less!!!

@talexander who doesn't have this problem on this forum?

I was a wee worried that it was the wrong product / price, but nope. All worked. Just received these two ladies from Amazon for a steal (!) so now I just gotta wait until traveling to the country house where they'll keep me warm on a winter's evening!

Jack Daniel's SB Rye - one I've wanted for a while and getting into rye more and more. By all accounts it's quite unusual? Always been put off by the +£50 tag but got it for £35. Nice!
Also got a Roku gin for my partner. (although I'm quite keen to give these Japanese botanicals a try and to try a G & T with fresh ginger . . . )

@RianC Interesting, please submit a review ASAP, pls! :-)
I see Tesco has a great price on this one £35 compared to TWE £55. @victor has been helping me get my head around the rye universe too of late, and I've had a few samples but still trying to figure out what works best for me.
I tried JB, but that wasn't my thing. Tried Mitcher's which was interesting, though extremely spicy/peppery. Haven't gotten around to Knob Creek, Sazerac or Rittenhouse yet - but I'm academically studying reviews.
I've concluded that buying US bourbon/rye here in the UK is a little frustrating as the typical "$20-$25 in the US" expressions here in London tend to set you back the equivalent of a 16 Laga, Talisker DE, Springbank etc...
