@Nozinan Funny enough I recently, let a Corry go and this replacement is the same bottling date.

Unfortunately, I can't replace my Lag. 16 bottling from 2015 seems that a table full of open bottles couldn't stop the niece from claiming it.

I’ve had various Cadenhead offerings and they have been consistently excellent. These two, especially the Benriach, are as good as it gets.

@RianC @Astroke's list covers a lot of the ground. The most common MGPI ryes are Bulleit, George Dickel, Redemption, Templeton, James E. Pepper 1776, Sagamore Spirit Ryes, much of the vatted product from High West, and quite a few of the sourced Willett Ryes, before they re-started.production from their own distillery.

@Astroke I always thought Noah's Mill was also sourced from MGPI but it isn't featured on that list. Is it not an MGPI product? Or is it sourced from another distillery (distilleries?) ? Perhaps @Victor knows a bit more about it.

@Victor @Astroke - I see now I asked the wrong question ... 'What rye don't they make?' was clearly the easier one to answer smile

Thanks for the link, most eye opening!

@OdysseusUnbound The give away is the bottle label. Anything labelled Kentucky Bourbon must be distilled in Kentucky. Noah's Mill is a Willett product, like Rowan's Creek, Johnny Drum and so on. I am sure you already guessed that. Unknown where it is sourced from as all the old Kentucky Bourbon Distiller's juice that Willett bought up, blend of multiple Bourbon's no doubt.

@Astroke I’ve never seen a bottle of Noah’s Mill, I’ve only seen it mentioned in bourbon discussion groups...

@OdysseusUnbound Noah's Mill, Rowan's Creek, Pure Kentucky XO, Kentucky Vintage, 17 and 21 yo Vintage Bourbons and Ryes, Old Bardstown, the Johnny Drum series, all of these are from KBD/Kentucky Bourbon Distillers Ltd, aka the Willett people.

I don't think that KBD ever sourced from MGPI. Maybe from Heaven Hill, Medley, Barton, and/or others.

I didn’t buy it, but I received a bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel as a gift from one of my best friends. He said drinking it all in one go was the key to “keep feeling 39 forever” but I’m opting to accept my 40s and enjoy the bourbon a little bit at a time.

@OdysseusUnbound - my bottle's that good I made a serious dent in it as soon as it was opened! There is still some left though grin

@Nozinan Is the Octomore for you? If so, I'm curious what you think of it. I'm getting an Octomore at some point, but not sure which...

Some early gift cards netted me this after a 60 bottle gone in a blink at Summerhill and the kind lady there put it aside for me.

@Astroke, that’s a rare bottle of bourbon, nearly twice as old as the 7 YO Baker’s. The same kind of juice is one of the component parts of Little Book 3.

@paddockjudge And more than twice the price of Baker’s 7 Year. grimacing

FYI: The Baker's 13 ABV corrected to 52.3% from 53.5% by LCBO testing lab.

@paddockjudge Yes, I picked up 2 of the LB 3's. Very good but I think it will need a little time to calm down, unlike LB 2 which was great from day 1.

@fiddich1980 I wonder if the 7 year was at the stated ABV

@Astroke They(LCBO) would have added a sticker. I did not look for an ABV adjustment on the new single barrel Baker's 7 which was tasted last Saturday and compared with the older style label Bakers 7.

As far I know from purchases, ABV adjustments have been made to LB2, Old Ezra 7 B.S., and Bakers 13.

@BlueNote I've been curious about some of these young cadenheads small batches. KWM seems to have quite a few.

Astroke replied

@fiddich1980 You can add 1792 Full Proof which was also adjusted to 61.8%. I know someone who purchased a Cody Road Rye Whiskey at 40% but the LCBO lowered it to 39.3% and so it no longer qualified as Whiskey. There are many more I believe.

@cricklewood Yeah, KWM has dozens of them and they usually put a bunch of them on at up to 35% off during their sales. I usually pick up a couple of the highly discounted ones when the KWM sales come up. They always come in at well under $100 and I have yet to have a less than good one, and mostly they have been very good to excellent. I think Cadenhead are good cask pickers.

Picked these 3 up today from my NY State connection and completed a trade. The Rendezvous Rye Barrel Select Hungarian cask finish was the last one known to exist and one of the 2 I had previously was down to a heel so I had to have it.

@cricklewood Yes,is a store pick from a Western NY store. These were from 2016 and the store was blowing them out for $49.95. Would have bought 6 if the border/duty were not in my way.

Picked up a few bottles of the Sagamore Spirit, Distillery Barrel Select Straight Rye Whiskey (RYEDAY-13) distillery exclusive release. Got myself one and a couple for family members that are out-of-state so they would not have been able to get this. When my wife and I got there and asked about it, they said "Which exclusive bottle? We have two, the ryeday-13 and one we didn't know we were getting."

"The Rum Cask Finish." To be fair, they knew it was coming, they just didn't know they were getting it so soon.
