@paddockjudge I’ve heard that you are one tough son of a bitch.

Just bought a bottle of Talisker 15! Why? Because it's a release that normally goes for around £110 and my lovely little tracking system just alerted me to the fact that the Amazon 'algorithm' seems to have struck again, and I got it for £23. :-)

@fiddich1980 It's bonkers, so I hope I'll get it. It seems that when Amazon stock runs low to one item left, the system dumps the price?!

@RikS Outstanding score. I hope you get it. Let us know.

I just picked up a bottle of the 14 year old version of Glenmorangie Port Finish, AKA Quinta Ruban. I didn't particularly like the 12 year old version, I found it too sweet for my taste. So after seeing a Ralfy review of the 14 (89 points) I decided to give it a try. Initial impression is that it is less dominated by the Port. So far, based on a very small taste fresh out of the bottle, I like it. I'll give it some air time and try it again in a couple of weeks.

@BlueNote I had a bottle over the fall/winter and I liked it. Much better than the Lasanta.

@BlueNote I've been eyeing this one, and now... you're adding to the enticement! :)

@RikS - That's has dropping! Hope you get it, mate.
I had a similar deal a while back but they eventually said they had run out of stock ...

@RianC yeah, that's what I fear too. On my order list it says it'll be delivered end of month.... but I would not be surprised if I receive a message saying they cannot deliver because they have not been able to source it since it is a special edition with limited stock... Time will show!

@casualtorture Yes, the Lasanta is one that they seem unable to get right. Tried it twice and gave up.

@RikS If I hadn’t seen Ralfy’s review I probably wouldn’t have considered it. Glad I did. I think you’ll like it. It’s 46%, NCF and a nice natural colour from the Port cask.

@BlueNote I didn’t care for Lasanta, but I really enjoyed the QR even at 12 years. I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts on the 14 Port Cask, aka Quinta Ruban.

@BlueNote so it goes in the list! Actually I really enjoyed my last bottle of lasanta as well. Nothing revolutionary but perfectly nice after a crazy day.

Thought it would be a good idea to buy another of these while I could. Loving the couple of small drams I've had so far from my first bottle.

@OdysseusUnbound Will do. I'm just giving it a couple of weeks with some air in the bottle.

@Hewie This one is getting so many good reviews. Gotta get one.

@BlueNote I hope you can find one. It is everything I love about Campbeltown - punchy, dirty, rich sherry, earthy peat.... quite a lot of cask influence but not overshadowing the distillery character. I think I like Kilkerran / Springbank best with sherry

@Hewie That's a great bottle! (Spoiler: licking a lemon wrapped in ash:powerful, tasty, complex).
My liquor store called to see if I wanted another bottle of the Kilkerran 8 that I never ordered, and I was okay with that... except they didn't have the actual bottle. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the SB 12CS they are holding for me.

@Jonathan agree the Kilkerran 8 CS is great but these 2 bottles I've bought are the latest batch which were fully matured in re-charred Oloroso sherry casks. Thre only difference on the tube and bottle is the %ABV. This latest batch had been very popular and hard fire most to get their hands on. I'm happy to give any J & A Mitchell bottles a crack!

@Jonathan Can't go wrong with the 12 CS. Hope you get it.

Did I already mention that I bought a bottle of Millstone 100 rye. It is a Dutch rye whiskey. It is the best rye whiskey in the Netherlands and it may be a very nice one if it was American. I like it. It is true, it can't be compared with my all time favorite Thomas H. Handy. It has the same quality of Willett 4 yo some years ago. It needs time to open up and then you will have a hour well spent. Hope it is for sale in the USA.

@NamBeist Millstone 100 Rye is currently listed on wine-searcher.com as being available at 6 locations total in the USA. I have not seen it in my area. I look forward to tasting it one day.

@NamBeist, @Victor I have finished one bottle of Millstone 100 Rye and still have another bunkered. Picked them up when they were on clearance in Ontario. From what I understand the rye grain is 49% malted, 51% unmalted. I would say that if you like Old Potrero than you would enjoy this one. That heavy Rye bread funk is there for both.

Picked up a bottle of Old Forester 1920 to replenish my dangerously low bottle, and grabbed one of the new Heaven Hill Bottled in Bond to finally try while I can.

Naughty Amazon....!
So, my £23 for a 15yrs old Talisker didn't work out it seems.
Just got this from Amazon -
"The price for `Talisker 15 Years Old Rare by Nature Special Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky 70cl with Gift Box' (ASIN: B07ZQ5YPB4) was displayed incorrectly when you placed your order 026-5391383-413XXXX. Well well, not entirely surprised and given the special deals that HAVE worked, I suppose I'll take this defeat with a smirk and a twinkle :)

@RikS If you have time on your hands there is that old saying "the squeaky wheel gets greased".
4 years ago 2Who liked this?
@fiddich1980 Oh, I certainly have time on my hands... like most, I believe. Maybe I'll give them a call - cause I don't buy the argument that this was 'the wrong price'. What I bet happened was that they had one or two in stock, dumped the price, accepted my order, and then realised that they were out of stock and aren't getting any new ones.... so, they cancelled, with reference to 'error on the site price'.

Don’t they legally have to honour the order if you have already paid for it, despite the ‘pricing error’?
