@OdysseusUnbound
Bailey's! Now I remember what I forgot to get when I was buying two more bottles of Lustau Oloroso Don Nuño.
I should note, I am not only buying the sherry to support the sherry industry, seeing that I enjoy whisk(e)y that has matured in ex-sherry casks, but I found a sherry I enjoy drinking.
@OdysseusUnbound Congratulations on being holiday.

This next photo isn't just to elicit "hearts" or "likes", but more to post my holiday purchases into one photo. Now, I am not a total lush and will get through all of these by the new year; however, it would be one good way to say goodbye to 2021.
I also have to mention, the reason why I waited until now to make a group photo is because the Italian brandy I order, Stravecchio Branca, arrived today, and I wanted to make sure to included it.
Also, in previous posts I had mentioned that I had purchased more than one bottle of certain items, but I don't think I need to put all of the bottles in the photo.
What is missing is a new bottle of the Glencadam 15, which I picked up when I was only intending to get the 10yo, but when saw that the store I went to also had the 15yo available, I just had to get one. But since it wasn't really a 'holiday' purchase, I am glad I forgot to include it in the photo.

@ajjarrett You’ll have to go some to get through all of those by new year. Are you sure you’re not a “total lush”?

@ajjarrett What do you do with the Metaxa? I tried it once and it was not memorable. Maybe I didn't drink it right.
2 years ago 3Who liked this?
@Nozinan I just drink it. No seriously, I like it neat, and I even like with ice. I am sure some people make a shandy out of it and mix it with ginger ale/beer.

@ajjarrett - what a nice looking 'hamper'! Never tried Metaxa or Italian brandy but would like to, and you've reminded me that I need to get some more ouzo or raki for the spirits shelf. They make excellent digestives.
I've also been thinking about buying an Amontillado sherry as I seem to go all 'ga ga' for anything finished in an amontillado cask - it's the nuttiness, I think.
Enjoy!

@ajjarrett, Metaxa and Ouzo, two of my childhhod favourites along with Marquis de Villard and Vecchia Romagna. Good times and good memories. Don't pay any attention to @BlueNote, he's fishing for an invitation

@ajjarrett, interesting that your friend from Taiwan is suggesting you should investigate Armagnac. This is a purchase I made earlier in the Covid Era, one from Taiwan and two from Armagnac. Three rich and chewy treats.

@paddockjudge Actually, my friend in Taiwan introduced me to Foursquare Rum and Brut de Fut Armagnac. Unfortunately, Brut de Fut is not available in the US; however, I have sent him a few photos of what is available and he was able to give me his thoughts on them. I do believe he has mentioned Darroze, but that isn't available in Colorado, that I am aware of. For now, I will be happy with what I have but keep both eyes out for new things to drink.

@paddockjudge fishing or phishing?
Between metaxa and ouzo, I would choose ouzo.

@RianC When you used the word 'digestives' the first thing that came to mind were 'digestive cookies'. HA!

@ajjarrett @RianC McVitie's dark chocolate digestive biscuits. Yum, yum.

@ajjarrett We lushes have to stick together. Isn't this "Take a Lush to Lunch" week? All we need is a bowl of soup and 3 or 4 martinis.

@BlueNote Wrong.... milk chocolate digestives all the way.

@paddockjudge My childhood favourite was Snow White cream soda.

This just arrived today. Kilchoman’s 10th Club release.
The 10th Edition of the Kilchoman Club Release is a vatting of three 2008 oloroso sherry casks selected by Kilchoman Founder, Anthony Wills. The three hogsheads were vatted together and bottled at natural cask strength of 52.6%, producing a total of 807 bottles.
I got bottle 260.

A few sweet and spicy treats for the Holiday Season.

@paddockjudge I think you will love the Single Cask Nation Teaninich. When you get around to it, I'd be interested to get your thoughts on the Berry Bros Tormore.

@BlueNote, the Berry Bros. Tormore is solid, but not great. Slightly vegetal, this dissipates when left to rest in a glass. Good balance, slight sweetness, clean oak. It’s got the funky Tormore vibe. I like it. I have two and will probably not seek a third.
For the price, I would rather lay down my money on some of my favourite distilleries; however, I am not disappointed with this 25 YO CS single malt.

I visited a store in Calgary today with a very extensive collection, but for the first time without my partner in crime, @nosebleed.
My wife was waiting in the. Are so although I did a sweep, I did not linger.
I came away with this odd looking Quinta Ruban that we will be giving as a gift to someone who does not appreciate whisky, but thinks he does. I think this is a solid whisky and reasonably priced and would be happy to get it as a gift.
The Lemon Hart is for some cocktails that may or may not get made by my nephews. My sister in law had a bottle of Lamb’s 151 (I thought there was a Lemon Hart too but I was wrong) but in the summer we took it to another home and it never came back. I like the Lemon Hart better and it can be used as a supper or a mixer (as long as we remember it’s strength)
The mini was the only one of interest in e store and I will use it as a chance to taste and review without committing to a whole bottle.

It was down to $180 from $250, and I had $120 in LCBO gift cards from my birthday and Christmas to use, and as I've resolved to purchase less whisky in 2022, I couldn't justify buying anything else. Also, it's being set aside for Dec 2022...

@YakLord it seems you fell under the same spell as I did (in 2020). Then the 2019 Boutiqu-y calendar was half price at $100.
So far I have made it through the first 10 or so. I have tasted one that I would want to have again. None that I would want to buy.
Maybe by jacking the price up to $250 (and decreasing the discount) they were able to add better whiskies. I wish you the best of luck

@Nozinan This is what's in the 2021 calendar. Given they're all IBs, none of which are likely to ever come to Ontario, I'm just content to try them all.
2 years ago 3Who liked this?
@YakLord I think if you waited another week or three the price would be a lot closer to your $129 gift card! The last two years the price has started ~$250 and eventually went down to ~$100 ... with plenty of stock still available at the $120 level. The LCBO version of this box set pales in comparison to UK and other markets, very sad!

@YakLord Here is my line up. A couple are the same, which is interesting as the calendars are 2 years apart. Those expressions must be selling well!
2 years ago 3Who liked this?
@65glenfarclas Problem is that last year when the price dropped to around $100, the LCBO removed it from their online store, so it was local availability only, and there are very few left in the Ottawa area (about 15 spread across the city) so I figured I should grab one sooner rather than later.
