@Onibubba Great trip. I've good a good friend who has tried the JW Blue and is bonkers over it. I'm still not sure?? the price scares me a bit. Enjoy your whisky and friends this weekend. :)

@Onibubba. You're killing me man. Can't get Talisker 18 for love or money where I live. @Rigmarole, are you on? Just wondering if Tal 18 is available in Oregon and if so, how much?

Incidentally @ Rigmarole. Do you know if the McTanahan's/Glenfarclas is available at McMenamins Edgefield at Troutdale on the way to Hood River? I'll be down that way in June and I'm thinking I need some of that. You probably know this, but they have some great bars at Edgefield, like Jerry's Ice House where they have good booze and play old Grateful Dead DVDs 24/7.

I am always trying new scotch whiskies... My bourbon whiskies stay the same: Jack Daniels, 1792 and Woodford Reserve. Scotch to me is one of the only whiskies worth exploring broadly.

For me, I am still very much in the 'buy for variety' stage, having just picked up my first 'repeat' bottle (Port Charlotte An Turas Mor). That was my first repeat in part because the stock is on its last legs in Ontario, as the bottling is being replaced by The Peat Project.

My wishlist is quite long (70+ bottles always), but it is very deliberately constructed (via reading reviews and tastings, whenever possible) as I simply can't afford to buy a bottle that may/may not be good. As for purchase habits, they are directed in two ways.

Purchases in Ontario are prioritized by remaining inventory of bottles that are marked as 'limited stock' (next up...hopefully...Knob Creek Single Barrel). When I get a chance to access, or travel to get, bottles in the US I focus on bottles that are not available in Ontario, or are ridiculously priced here (hello Uigeadail). In the future, I hope to get to the point where I can make some US purchases on bottles that I love, but have a significant price difference in Ontario (i.e. Lagavulin 16 or HP 18 to name a couple).

@scotchguy74 you are missing out on so many great high quality bourbons with that approach but I the whole I will grant u scotch has more complexity on average than bourbon

@HeartlessNinny

@Nolinske I tend to agree. There's a lot of great bourbon out there. But hey, some people really like Jack.
