@Nozinan, good going! I am sure that you are the most gracious of hosts. Looks and sounds like your new (old) family house has now been fully whisky consecrated.

@Victor that's still the current home. We won't be moving into the old/new home until about July. So if you're in town before then perhaps you could help me decrease the number of bottles I have to transfer... wink

@Paddockjudge is helping me to move my collection from the old house to the new one. Now, with everything in boxes on the floor, he is helping me to put them away in a way that makes sense.

Because I was 12 when I first moved into this home, we are drinking 12 YO whiskies during this experience. A niece who has moved to Toronto is joining us. I helped introduce her to Scotch a couple years ago in Calgary. Currently, the first is Arran 12 SMWS 121.76, and it's really good.

Just past midnight we opened Springbank 12 YO CS, and followed that with Lemon Hart 151 (which I skipped).

@Paddockjudge went with Mac CS to finish off but the rest of us were done.

Thanks @paddockjudge for helping with a herculean task.

@Nozinan I'm pleased to hear it's all stored away safely now - it must have been a massive task for you and your helpers. That was a nice run of 12's to help settle them in.

@talexander,

you were better off at home!

@Nozinan is a harsh task master. I was forced to wear white gloves so as not to leave finger prints on the bottles and each of the hundreds of bottles required bubble wrap before being packed. There could be no more than 6 bottles per container and all the numbered bottles/ casks had to be separated into two groups determined by even and odd numbers. After the move, the bottles were finally re-sorted and stored according to the postal code/zip code of country of origin.

When I was eventually permitted to have a wee dram, it was nearly 11 p.m.!!...the pours were rationed...and nothing older than 12 years!!

I 'called it a night' after the fourth or fifth half-ration wink That sweat shop strong-arm fell for my fake fatigue and retired for the evening. After @Nozinan was soundly asleep I returned to his whisky bunker and helped myself to a few well deserved delights: Macallan 25 YO, HP 25 YO, Glenfiddich 50 YO... and not just a wee nip, but some man-sized thirst quenching pours, large enough to sate my fierce whisky appetite...and he'll never know that I tapped those bottles because I poured enough Lambertus into each bottle to bring the fill levels back to where they were. Now that was an epic tasting! wink

@paddockjudge You earned it, brother. That was probably Glenfiddich 12 in a 50 year old empty bottle he got from a rich patient. @Nozinan hates Glenfiddich, he set you up, man;-)

@BlueNote,

@Nozinan is a generous fellow and a wonderful friend. We put in a good day's work and had very little time for an extended whisky tasting session.

We did stop long enough to go for dinner with his wife and niece. We had a lovely meal, then returned to the task at hand. I doubt that he will ever move again, but if he does, it will be well worth the effort to travel eastwards and lend a hand....perhaps by then we will have drank all of his 12 year-old whisky wink

I have no plans to ever move again.

@Paddockjudge - there is no way this would have gone well without the kind of help you provided. Just as at your daughter's wedding I said I wished by daughter had a father like you, yesterday, on my anniversary, I thought how well off my wife would be with a husband like you.

Your lie was obvious when you mentioned the Fiddich 50. I don't stock faddish at all. I had a 15 Solera but gave it to my brother in 2011.

You well know that the oldest maturation of any spirit in my cabinet is 32 or 33 years... because that Armagnac was a gift from you..

I hope that the next time you come to help me it will be to help me see if the collection remains drinkable after all that moving. We have a lot more to go through to test it.
