Yamazaki 12 yo. I've had this bottle open for about 6 years now, and it is still over half full. It shifted some flavours away from its best after open a couple of years, but it is still enjoyable.

Got home in time tonight for a dram. Tonight is sandwiched between 2 on-call days. I still have minutes to write up and charting to do so I turned to a faithful, bold, in your face dram.... Booker's. In this case 2015-02.

Started with Glenfarclas 15 and continued with the fabulous longrow red port. With about 1/4 of the bottle left it still carries massive power and taste.

This was as unexpected as Stephane Dion winning the Liberal Leadership ~10 years ago...
When my uncle and I looked at the cabinet, he noticed my bottle of Cutty Sark Prohibition in the corner. So that's what we're having tonight!

Virginia Gentleman Bourbon, Breckenridge Bourbon, and now, Kilchoman Machir Bay 2012 release. I very much like how this Machir Bay has developed 14 months after opening the bottle.

I am enjoying a dram of Amrut Portonova. It is a whisky with a port finish , that I really appreciate. Soon, I will have a Glenrothes with a port finish. It is a product by David Stirk. He has released a range of whisky's recently . The Glenrothes reminds me of the Portonova, but its price is much better.

Glad to hear you're enjoying it @NamBeist. That's one Amrut I haven't tried but I'm a sucker for port finished whiskies so it's on my list!

Dear @Alexsweden , Amrut Portonova is a giant of a whisky. Maybe you should put the Glenrothes with the port finish on your list as well. It is sold under the name of Speyside . It is produced by David Stirk . I bet you will like it too. It is mentioned on the bottle that it is aged over nine years.

Invergordon 1988 Sovereign by Hunter Laing, a recent birthday gift from my family. It's a decent 27 y/o grain whisky, fruity and nicely rounded.

Tonight my uncle and I didn't share a dram at his house when e went over for dinner. So as I finish off the last bits of work before heading to bed (on call tomorrow...), a 15 cc pour of Lagavulin 8. Great stuff!

Finished of my miniature "little peat", one I'll buy if I get the chance. Moved on to glengoyne 21 for some Sherry bass, good stuff also!

This SMWS Caol Ila has been in the cupboard for a while and needs finishing. Would be rude not to!

@jeanluc You're right. Ignoring it would be extremely uncouth. I can only imaging such cask strength peated goodness....

A'Bunadh batch 47, for the first time since the bottle was opened Jan. 2. This is an exceptional batch!

@Nozinan that's good to know, was thinking of picking up a bottle of batch 47

@Nozinan Funny you should be drinking the batch 47, I am just finishing the last of my batch no. 48. It was the first sherry monster to hook me onto the sherry monsters. I'm not sure where it ranks on the scale with all the batches, but I have enjoyed every dram. From the inital powerful nose, full noise palate to the long, lingering finish. It is a whisky I will never forget..

It's Wednesday and I'm supposed to be studying...so obviously I'm browsing a whisky review community with a tumbler of Ardmore Legacy

I tried
Paul John classic select cask
Bowmore vault edition 1
BOX second step collection
Macdonald's peated Ben nevis
Armorik double matured
Good stuff and a fun evening.

And @Nozinan I'm so happy to hear you tried and liked the A'bunadh 47. One of my all time favorite whiskies !

@Alexsweden It is quite impressive. One of the best I've tried. There have been murmurs the quality has gone down with younger whiskies and poorer casks. At least those were the rumours when I bought it a couple of years ago.
It might help to open an older bottling (I have a 27, 28 or 33) head to head with a good newer batch and see what the difference is.

Definitely a nice Bowmore. ABV just past 50% and Maritime, smoke, saltwater, A bit hot, tropical fruit, vanilla were my initial notes.
It does seem a bit pricey though. I can think of better whiskies to buy for 110€

@Alexsweden Thanks for the notes, very expensive in Canada, I believe I will pass on this one at least until all my Laimrig's and Devil's Casks are gone.

Redbreast 12. It's March, so reviewing my Irish expressions. Smooth and easy to drink as I read "Whisky" by Aeneas MacDonald.

I just had a dram of Ledaig 10 at a bar. It was surprisingly good! Clean, bright, fresh peat, with a strong "high" note that I won't try to label.
I say surprisingly because I had the Ledaig 10 once before and found it quite unpleasant. That was a couple years ago, but both were from the current "46.3%" era. Tonight's pour was real nice and totally worth the $6.50 bar bill. I'm feeling more optimistic about that younger IB Ledaig I have yet to open from the bunker.

@Ol_Jas the big question is - if you didn't like it the first time, why did you have it a second time?
