Just bought a bottle of Bruichladdich Octomore 2.2 Orpheus 140ppm. Extremely curious as to how the high phenolic content will marry with the finishing in Ch Petrus cask. Great addition to the Octomore range. Now all I need is an occasion to pop the cork!

After some very good reviews, really looking to get my sweaty hands on a bottle of the Compass Box Great King Street. Need to polish off a couple of other bottles first though.

Last night, I laid down the coin for Glenmorangie Signet and Crown Royal Reserve. Opened tonight there was no disappointment with either of them. I see why Jim Murray named the CR Reserve as the 2011 Canadian Whisky of the Year ..and almost everybody knows that the Signet is quite distinctive and very interesting. Three afternoons ago my jaw nearly fell off of my face as I walked into a liquor store and saw three bottles of George T. Stagg and three bottles of William Larue Weller just sitting on the shelf. Ten days before the beginning of the Fall 2011 Sazerac Antique Collection release, there are probably not 10 liquor stores in the USA where you could walk in and find a bottle of Stagg. Those three bottles are now mine and my sister's. And big sis picked up two of the three bottles of Weller.

I am planning on buying a bottle of Lagavulin 12 yo, and a bottle of the Corryvrekan. Of course, when it comes to buying scotch my plans generaly change after I have walked into the shop!

Once i've finished my currently open bottle, i'll be opening 3 bottles from my collection. I'll be opening my Spirt Of Unity bottle, my Shackleton replica, and my bottle of 1976 30yr Tomatin Oloroso Sherry finish. They are my 3 prized bottles as such, and feel as though i need to open them now, otherwise i never will!

An independant bottling (at Bruichladdich under the label of Murray McDavid) of 10 year old Laphroaig finished in Chateau Lafite casks. Purchased, and poised to be opened this evening. Once again I went in intending toget theCorryvrekan, and once again I got side tracked...

My intention later this week is to pick up the highly regarded Booker's Small Batch Boubon (The wonderful "Candy Bar" review by 'dbk' boosted the bottle up my priority list). My next "target" (though it likely won't be until November) will be Springbank 10, in order to get some Campbeltown into my cabinet!

I'm opening my bottle of Brora 30 year old 2009 to celebrate my purchase of my first home. As for my next bottle to purchase, I'm debating the Bruichladdich 1970 or a single cask 1973 Highland Park. Any suggestions as to which?

@Appadurai -- I'm jealous. I haven't had the chance to buy myself a bottle yet.

My last purchase, Wednesday night, was a bottle of Bowmore 12. I wasn't planning on it, but we tasted a few Bowmore expressions that night and it was really good.

I have just bought two marvelous malts... Talisker 18 years old and Laphroaig 18 years old. I have opened the Talisker. Very nice, there is still the characteristic peppery notes that seem unique to Skye but also a very complex structure mixing toffee, other spices and some gentle fruits (pear, apple). I found it a tad timid, but it is often the case with the first dram a newly opened bottle. It opened up with water and time in the glass, so I think it will be better in the future, once the air that entered in the bottle will open the whisky... I'll do a formal review then.

@Pudge72, thank you. I am still elated from having the bottles in hand, and haven't yet considered sampling them. So far I am not in a hurry, but that can change at any time! Dramlette and I will see big sis tomorrow evening for a Heaven Hill tasting at a liquor store in Baltimore. We will probably try at least a couple of the 2011 SAC whiskeys at her house after the Heaven Hill.

@Pudge72 -- I've already sampled it. I tried a 50 mL bottle of it I happened to find in a NH state liquor store and liked it. Since I was at a tasting last night and had the opportunity to get a bottle at 15% off, I jumped on it.

I am in the market for a new bottle of an everyday classic peated malt. I am having trouble deciding between Ardbeg 10 and Laphroaig Quarter Cask... possibly even Compass Box Peat Monster. I have tried all but Laphroaig Quarter Cask... but I hear it's great.

I just purchased two bottles of Talisker 18yo, which here in new york was absent for some time due to low or no stocks that hit 18 years of age to bottle. These are clearly L12:s i still have the 2005 somewhere in my stash. This L12 looks a little darker to my eyes. Yes time to compare. also have a 200ml from 2005 to compare aswell.
