A Talisker 10. An Amazon offer made itself known via a pop-up and for £30 (inc. delivery) it's hard to refuse. My last bottle of the 10 wasn't that great to be honest so I'm hoping this one is a bit of an improvement.

@Astroke Ditto for BC. By the time tax is added, Talisker 10 is $114.

New purchases:
1) Amrut CS Peated: I love the stuff
2)Caol Ila 11 (G and M) 2005, Bourbon cask, CS: By the time my previous bottle of this disappeared, it grew on me.Not a peat monster at all, but the fruity nose and smoked pear notes are perfectly balanced. At 55.4, it does not need water. It pairs nicely with the 17Yr. unpeated. Quite delicate, with ash prominent on the finish.
3) Springbank 12 CS: need I explain?
4) Laproaig 10 CS Batch 10: an old favorite.
5) Two bottles of Laphroaig QC: it costs 34$ a bottle for now (and my wife actually likes it)
6)Port Charlotte 10: I love the wine influence in this and should probably try the PC Islay Barley. They had 2008 and 2009 , so I just decided to wait to pick one up until if and how iI can learn about how they different than the 10.
I passed on an expensive IB of 46% Lagavulin (supposedly), but I think I prefer the older Lagavulin profile, or the 12, which I have not seen available, even at a high price.
Incidentally, I asked the folks at both liquor stores I went to today about the coming tariffs, and I was told that the price on all Scotch whisky will likely see a 25% increase very soon. This may have been an attempt to encourage me to buy more, but these are two places that don't need my business, and I suspect, given the math, that they know what they are talking about. I need to read up, but the Importation fee seems to cover the price of the bottle:so 100$ now=125$ in some months. I asked if the stores will absorb some of the extra cost and the answer was a resounding no.

@Astroke @BlueNote - Ouch! It's gone up here in the last few years and RRP is about £44 so £30 is unusually low hence the grabbing. Could have put this in 'steal of a deal' thread now I think on ...

1) Port Charlotte MRC: 01 2010: I had to taste it for myself, especially before tariffs kick in. 2) a back up of Lagavulin16
Next up, tariff wise: hard Italian cheeses and French wine, staples for a good many American consumers, including many Trump voters. (I know because I stay in touch with them.)
Scotch Blends won't be hit by be the tariffs, but what about Indian and American whiskies that use Port Ellen maltings? Will the Scotch components in these single malts be hit?

Picked this up when I stopped into my local shop. (Impulse buy) I heard this was coming out and was surprised to see it so soon. No idea how good it will be but heck, it's Lagavulin.

@TracerBullet It should be decent, hopefully better than recent batches of the 16. Please let us know.

@OdysseusUnbound I had the Glengoyne 18 a few years ago. It's very well priced for an 18 and I thought it was very drinkable. Not quite up to the old Macallan 18, but half the price. Salut.

Bought by phone: Kilkerran 12 and 8: good, honest "naked" malt. No gimmicks! I also iike Hazelburn and Springbank, which , at the their best--are "pure" single malts.
Incidentally, there's an interesting CS Japanese whisky coming : one that might be of interest to people in my area. I'm not one to withhold info. If and when the bottles come, I'll share the info..

Recent arrivals, Lot 40 CS 3rd Edition 57% a.b.v., Wiser’s 23 YO 64.3% a.b.v, and Alberta Premium CS 65.1% a.b.v.
A trifecta of Cask Strength Canadians. Making my way through the order slowly.

@paddockjudge that looks really good. Wish I were in Sudbury.

I gave my nephew my bottle of Yamazaki 12YO thinking I would just replace it. When I looked online all the Pennsylvania stores were sold out. This lack of Yamazaki has lasted a year. I looked a few days ago and the store I frequent suddenly has 25 bottles. I picked one up today.

@paddockjudge I think many of us wish we were in Sudbury after seeing that picture.
You hit me with such FOMO that I split an online order today with one of our colleagues, which I will have shipped. With luck, around the end of the month I will be able to taste some of the finest Canadian whiskies, including the possibly the oldest CS Canadian I have ever tasted. Photos to follow...

These finally arrived today. I opened the 23 CS and after a neck pour can safely state that this may be the finest Canadian blended Whisky ever bottled. Multiple back ups will be required.

@TracerBullet I saw this for the same price of Lag 16 (61$), but with the 8, 9 and mythical 12CS, I wasn't up for it. Maybe I should watch Parks and Recreations? Any partifularly good episodes or seasons?

If I make the list, I'll buy a Kaiyo, a Japanese whisky made with a "teaspoon" of another distillery's whisky for . Here's more info: spiritsjournal.klwines.com/klwinescom-spir…
I wonder if Scotch whisky producers could use a similar "teaspoon" technique to get around the single malt tariff. Then again, they could always slap a tariff on teaspoons.

@Jonathan Funny thing is, I tried to watch the show but it never really hit the right note with me. Had some funny parts but it just didn't hold my interest.

A sister bottle to a Deanston 2008 Red Wine Bordeaux which(for me) was a notable 2018 whisky. The purchase was driven by an unfounded FORO.

@fiddich1980 Amazing! The whisky seems to have solidified, staying in place even with the bottle on its side!

I just bought a Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Why? Because it’s probably my favourite non-allocated bourbon. All the FORO talk must be getting to me.

I bought a bottle of Ardbeg 10YO for a family member as a Christmas gift. I bought myself the Offerman edition of Lagavulin 11YO.

A whiskey group I'm in did a JDSBBP pick and they got delivered this week. And signed by the master distiller!
